new beginnings.
no commute.
and TIME.

Happy Holidays!!

Ok, So I Forgot to Blog.

When you hang out with these two ...
you sort of forget that there's anything else in the world.

Because he is better than Santa Claus.

Last December, I was feeling down in the holiday dumps. It was going to be my first Christmas without my family and I was a bit Scroogey. The fact that our apartment was lacking the one thing that really puts me in the holiday spirit didn’t help. A Christmas tree.

Funds were low and the possibility of getting one was looking dim.

One night, Mikey set out to run some errands while I sulked on the couch {bah humbug!}. He said he would be right back. 2 hours later he was still m.i.a. It was raining outside. In our neighborhood when it rains, weird northeasterny {is that word?} things start to happen {Trees fall on cars. Power lines spark}. I was getting worried.

Just as I was about to call on a search party, Mikey walked through the door. In his hand was a huge box. In the box was our brand new Christmas tree! He smiled. Scrooge Who?

He is so much better than Santa Claus. A lot cuter too.

i love him.

Strange and Beautiful.

{We also visited the Van Gogh exhibit. WOW.

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas...

Sometimes,
it only takes looking out the window to make me feel happy.
{yay snow!!}

All it Takes is a Little Music.

Last night, my camera battery died. I panicked.
One, because the Vampire Weekend concert had only just begun. Two, I never can remember where I put my charger {usually in the same place as it always is}.
The panic didn't last for long. I had already snapped a few shots. One of Mikey pretending to be a vampire...on the weekend . The band was doin' their thing and soon I was boppin' my head to their happy tunes.
Thanks Kelly and Tall Paul for inviting us to this fun concert!!
Take a listen here.

My Favorite.

When my parents were in town last week I took them to visit

This village has quickly become one of my favorite places to visit in Long Island.
The buildings were all restored and moved to the village from various places throughout LI.
My dorky self dreams of being one of the costumed people giving history lessons to visitors.

I love this pretty old wallpaper and the rosy cheeked dolls.

My mom and dad decided this would be their house of choice for mid-19th century living.
It also happened to be the biggest house on the lot.

beauty.

I heart OBVR!

The End.

Food, Food and More Food

My mom and dad flew in from Las Vegas to spend this Thanksgiving with us.
Jenna battled the crowds at Penn Station and came out too.
We had a lovely time cooking, eating, drinking and eating some more.
(and still eating).
Check out Jenna's blog for a complete recap of our Turkey Day!

Our recession rolling pin (literally). Why spend $10 when you can get one for $3.99?? Roll the dough then pour yourself a glass. It's good too!

We have so much to be thankful for.

Hope yours was a good one!

Thank You for Knives, Forks and Spoons

What are you thankful for today? Me?

I am thankful that Mikey does not hesitate to put a turkey on his head

and let me take a picture of him in it.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Delicious Sunshine.

{Disclaimer: This post belongs to the post below it. I haven't quite mastered the blog world
and do not know how to post a video correctly. please bear with me.}
It's cold and rainy outside.
I miss the sunshine and days when all I had to worry about was keeping my strapless dress from falling down.

Sneak Peak

The tree was just hoisted up this afternoon.
So excited that I got to see this beauty in the buff.

It was a totally wonderful and unexpected surprise.
Have a fantabulous weekend!

The Mysterious 40 Pound Bag...

Oh why, oh why is my bag so heavy? Could it be that I'm carrying...

01. Ken Follet's "World Without End"? A 1014-page book (hmm...).
02. My makeup bag? I do my makeup on the train...I live for the danger of applying eyeliner at 60 mph. ;)
03. Wine corks? Because everyone carries a cork in their purse, right?
04. My little Canon camera (not pictured - it's takin' the pic)?

Sometimes it feels like I'm carrying my life on my shoulder. Throw a mini Mikey, some friends and my west coast family in my big silver bag... and it just might be :)
